Walking between stylistic boarders, creating something new from the visible and continuously staying curious - in a few words, that is what I am doing as a pianist, composer and pedagogue. Home in the concert halls of the world as a solo artist and chamber musician, teaching a chamber class at Graz University of arts and giving masterclasses - anywhere I am creating new concepts building up friction and resolving it. Creating new concepts is always conneted to improvisation. Artistic improvisation is boarderless - in concert programs, accompanying a silent movie or in a creative dialogue with painters on stage. And it is one thing The great classical composers left for us - they all were great improvisers! Improvisation was a big part of my musician’s life from the very beginning. The pianistic skills I had learnt from my wonderful teachers Pal Molnar, Aldo Antognazzi, Pavel Gililov and Rudolf Kehrer, who taught me the various classical repertoire. As sceptical as I am about music competitions, they may be a nice topping on a biography. Most important prizes I won are: Bremen (1987), Hamburg (Brahms, 1992), Wien (Austro Mechana, 1994) and Pretoria (UNISA, 1996). Concert venues I have been performing appear already more intereting - among many others here are a few: Town Hall (New York), Musikverein (Vienna), Sala Sao Paulo (Sao Paulo), Phlharmonic halls Cologne and Munich, Oriental Arts Center (Shanghai). But the most important part about a biography are people - those who accompanied me and those who I collaborated with. The list does blow any boarders - representing them all I’ll mention Brazilian pianist legend and conductor Joao Carlos Martins, singer Christa Ludwig, actors Cornelius Obonya, Elisabeth Orth and Julia Stemberger, author Michael Krüger, painter Peter Wm Gray and my long term duo partner, cellist Friedrich Kleinhapl. I live as a freelance pianist and teacher of a piano chamber class at the University of Arts in Graz. I have two children, I am a passionate amateur photographer and -graphic, enjoying nature, love to go out with friends and philosophing together with them and alone about life.
